Cine film transfer to modern digital formats

Winpenny Photography are the experts in this field and have the know-how and equipment to preserve old cine films by converting them to modern digital formats, and then transferring them to DVD, USB Stick or external hard drive.

Once transferred, you can enjoy viewing them again, on your television or computer. Order copies for relatives. You can also upload them from YouTube or upload backups to Dropbox or Google Drive.

It doesn’t matter what the format; Standard 8mm, Super 8mm, 9.5mm or 16mm, we can convert all formats and convert them to a modern digital file before film deteriorates.

And not just cine film. We can also work with more recent camcorder formats such as MiniDV, Video8, Hi8, Digital8, VHS-C and video platforms such as VHS, Betamax and mini DVD.

As well conversion and transfer, we can also provide an editing service. This might include removing filming 'mistakes' or cutting fogged or otherwise spoiled footage from the captured films.

We can enhance the exposure of dark or over-exposed sections, and we can also add titles and credits at the start of each reel to give a polished finish to your old films.

So how does it work?

After making an enquiry, we will provide you with an estimate of costs. With cine film this is  based on the number of reels and their footage and in the case of video on the duration of the tape recording.

You can bring your film or tapes to our studio in Otley, West Yorkshire or they can be sent to us via Royal Mail or a carrier of your choice.

What about safeguarding?

For peace of mind we highly recommend sending your items to us by tracked or ‘signed for’ delivery.

Don’t worry, we conduct all work ourselves in our own premises and your original copies will not be sent away to any third party service providers.

Having taken details of your requirements, should a query arise we will contact you to discuss it further.

When we have finished, you can collect everything from us or following receipt of cleared payments, we can arrange for the goods to be returned to by secure means at your cost.
